Created for primary schools, the assembly focuses on how moving together can help children feel included, connected and supported whether that’s through playtime, PE, or The Daily Mile.

Alongside the assembly, we’ve also shared simple classroom activities designed to help children reflect on belonging and practise small, everyday actions that support mental wellbeing.

What’s included

Schools can download a complete, ready-to-use pack, including:

  • A 2-minute assembly video

  • Teacher notes for the activity (15–30 minutes)

  • Child worksheets to support reflection and discussion (for ages 3–7 and 7+)

Why movement matters

Regular movement doesn’t just support children’s physical health it plays an important role in emotional wellbeing too. Shared moments of movement can help children feel calmer, more confident and more connected to those around them.

By walking, jogging or moving side by side, children are given space to talk, connect and feel part of something, without pressure or competition.

Sometimes, belonging starts with something as simple as moving together.

Supporting children’s mental health in schools

The resources are designed to support Children’s Mental Health Week and work naturally alongside The Daily Mile, helping schools create safe, supportive spaces where every child feels valued.

For schools looking for additional Children’s Mental Health Week ideas and resources, we also encourage visiting the Place2Be website.
