Delivered in partnership with the Scottish Government and funded by the Summer of Sport, the event brought together children from schools across the city, many from communities facing the steepest inequalities in health and access to physical activity.

Across two event days, nearly 1,500 pupils experienced a celebration of movement inspired by the values of the Commonwealth Games, with children encouraged to take part in ways that felt right for them.

The children took part in a Daily Mile around the Commonwealth Games track alongside a range of fun, inclusive activities delivered by partners including Scottish Athletics, Scottish Disability Sport and SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health).

Paralympic gold medallist Ben Sandilands and Team Scotland sprinter Sean Frame also joined pupils on the day.

Founded in Scotland in 2012, The Daily Mile now supports more than 203,000 children across 1,078 schools in Scotland to move every day through 15 minutes of walking, running or wheeling during the school day.

Elaine Wyllie, Founder of The Daily Mile, said:

“Too many children still do not have positive experiences of physical activity, and that’s something we must change.

“Giving thousands of children the opportunity to be active together in an iconic venue like Scotstoun will create memories that last a lifetime and help build lifelong healthy habits.”

The event focused on participation, inclusion and helping children enjoy movement in their own way.

For many schools, the experience was about much more than physical activity alone.

Marian Kelly, Head Teacher at St Convals Primary School in Glasgow, said:

“For many of our children, opportunities like this can make a huge difference.

“Experiences like this help children build confidence, make friendships and feel like they belong.”

The event was delivered in partnership with London Marathon Events, Scottish Athletics, Scottish Disability Sport, Glasgow Life,SAMH, and the Glasgow 2026 legacy campaign, All In.

Alongside the live events, The Daily Mile Foundation has also created free digital resources linked to movement, wellbeing and inclusion for schools across Scotland. Access the resources here
