More than 52,000 children get moving for Olympic Day 2026
More than 52,000 children from over 200 schools across the UK celebrated Olympic Day 2026 by getting active, learning about healthy habits and enjoying movement together.
Delivered by Team GB Foundation in partnership with The Daily Mile Foundation, Quaker Oats and junior parkrun, this year's campaign encouraged children to Fuel Up and Move More, helping them understand how healthy eating and daily physical activity work together to support healthier, happier lives.
For The Daily Mile Foundation, Olympic Day is an opportunity to bring our mission to life. By working alongside Team GB Foundation and Team GB athletes, we can inspire more children to enjoy being active every day, showing schools how simple, inclusive activities like The Daily Mile can help build healthy habits that last.
Bringing Olympic Day to life in schools
Daily Mile Schools across the UK marked Olympic Day in a variety of ways, using a range of free resources to introduce children to the Olympic Movement before heading outside for a special Olympic-themed Daily Mile.
As part of the Olympic Daily Mile takeover, children completed their usual Daily Mile while taking on Olympic-inspired movement challenges along the route.
In classrooms, children explored this year's Fuel Up and Move More theme through assemblies and discussions, learning how healthy eating and regular movement help them feel ready to learn, play and thrive. They finished the day by making personal pledges about how they would continue to fuel up and move more beyond Olympic Day.
Inspiring children through Team GB athletes
One of the highlights of the campaign was the opportunity for children to meet Team GB athletes, who visited schools across the UK to share their Olympic journeys, answer questions and take part in activities alongside pupils.
Two flagship events in Essex and Manchester brought together schools, partners and athletes to celebrate Olympic Day, giving hundreds of children the chance to experience the excitement of the Olympic Movement first-hand.
For many children, meeting an Olympian made the day's message even more powerful, showing that healthy habits, determination and enjoying being active are important at every level, whether you're taking your first Daily Mile or competing on the world stage.
